Chef Leonard Hollander (R) had so much fun making the food for the June Hickory Creek dinner at Marion Street Cheese Market – he said he wanted to cook for our friends at the winery itself. Mike deSchaaf’s (L) response: “BYOF Chef! Bring your own fork….” For those with a sense of fun and adventure this will be a day unlike any other – watching Chef Leonard prepare our meal out in the open “kombat kitchen,” a chance to pound out and top our own flatbread to go into our wood fired brick oven, eating fresh caught fish from the lake and vegetables pulled out of the garden that morning. Making our own fresh ice cream with fruit harvested on the spot for dessert. This will be “camp cooking” but in the best possible way. And of course there will be wonderful Hickory Creek wines to accompany every course. You’ll also enjoy open discussion about pairings, having fun with what works beautifully and why, and what might not; a learning experience for all. You’ll be able to visit the vineyards, check out the cellar and the tasting room, relax under the big trees and schmooze with your old and new friends.”
